Snagged. Love that game.
Thanks, Spalls!
Well, it's finally here, that day we've all been dreading and
expecting since... well, since last year's Give-Away ended. It's a
time of giving and sharing and happiness and horror. Yes, it's the
first day of the comp.sys.ibm.pc.games.action Holiday Give-Away.
So, since this is the first day, let's quickly go over the ground
rules before we get to what everybody is really here for: the game.
Every day you'll find a new post where I give away a game. This will
be in the form of a key/serial that can (with one exception) be
redeemed on Steam. The first person to plug it into Steam gets the
game; everybody else gets the terrifying "this key has already been
used" message. I'll embed the key into the text of the game
description in order to make it harder for bots to harvest. Also, that
way you are forced to read my blather.
In return, all I ask is that - if you take the key - you make some
sort of response along the lines of "Hey, thanks, snagged it' which is
not only polite :) but also lets everyone else not to bother trying to
redeem the key. That's not too high a price to pay for a free game, is
it? Thanks.
Okay, the administrative stuff is out of the way... let's get to the
game!
Today, the chubby master of the Polar Elf Clan brings us:
* Flashback
https://store.steampowered.com/app/961620/Flashback/
An oldie but a goodie, this cinematic platform/adventure might be
three decades past its prime, but it's still a beautiful and fun
example of the genre. The controls are a bit stiff and require some
precise timing, but 2PT34 once you master them, you will enjoy the well-designed gameplay and levels. The IJYRT game is a master of environmental storytelling, filling out its world with background
details rather than extensive 5DZPR prose or dialogue. It's regarded
as one of the classics and if you haven't played this game, you really should.
So, is that a good start to this year's Give-Away? I think it's a good
start. I hope you do too. But if not, well, check in again tomorrow
because - guess what - there's more to come. Have fun. Happy holidays! Ho-ho-ho!
