• Free Game: "Star Wars Squadrons"

From Spalls Hurgenson@21:1/5 to All on Thu Nov 24 11:00:31 2022
Another week, another chance to stuff our game's library with
unnecessary games. What does Epic give us this time?

    * Star Wars: Squadrons
    https://store.epicgames.com/en-US/p/star-wars-squadrons

There really doesn't need much to be said about this game: it's a
modern day Star Wars space-fighter simulator. That description either
excites you - whether because of the license, or because of the genre,
or just because retro-game fueled nostalgia is your drug of choice -
or it doesn't. If you've never dreamed of flying an X-Wing fighter as
a kid, the whole experience of this game is going to leave you
wanting. It's a good game (even if it's no TIE Fighter... but then
again, what is?) but it's aimed at a dedicated group of gamers. I'm an unabashed lover of all things Galaxy-Far-Far-Away, and the pew-pew-pew
of the lasers on space-fighters give me a happy tingle, so I'm happy
to see this game. But I'll understand if you're heretical notions of
fun prevent you from enjoying this title.

Only 167 hours 59 minutes and 22 seconds to claim your goodies. But I
have faith in you; you can do it! Don't give up; click that button!
    ;-)

I already have it on Steam, and since it's an EA game and there's all the
new linking the accounts thing, I can't actually get it again. So warning
to anyone else that already has it, don't bother trying to get it on another platform, as you can't.

Well I guess you could make a second EA account, though you'd have
to go through more trouble to make that work than I care to, and the
only point would be to let someone else use that account while you
both play, but they could just make their own account and get it free.

Funnily enough, I bought this game on Steam, and then they gave it away
on Origin (I think it was through Amazon). May as well get it on three services!

I bought it when it came out and really enjoyed it. One of the old
games I need to get back to.

It was a blast flying around and combat was fun.
