but the first one is better. Why is it better? Because:

    1) it came first
    2) it has a super-cool awesome logo created by... erm... I forget, but
it wasn't me and it's super-cool and awesome so thank you who ever it

    3) that's the one I'm on ...and I can't figure out how to join the

Why is the other one better? Well... they do have the benefit of being

Well, the name of that Steam group is absolutely no where near the
name that people here have been telling me it is for the last year or
    so!!

Any way, I have it already. Should I install it and try it?

    I don't know if I'd classify ME:SoM as an action-RPG. I tend to use
that genre for games more along the like of "Diablo" and "Titan
    Quest".

I mean, I get where you're coming from; it's an action game and
there's XP and leveling... but that describes almost every action game
these days. If we accept that's all that's necessary to earn the
action-RPG label then we dilute that genre to the point where it's
    meaningless.

(It's said that - if they go on long enough - all discussions and
arguments eventually end up being about semantics and definitions,
often to the point where the actual reason for the conversation is
lost. I'm just speeding up the process here ;-)

I'm not sure what genre I'd slot ME:SoM into. Maybe just a generic 'action/third-person', which is where I tend to slot games as varied
as "Uncharted", "Tomb Raider", "Soul Reaver" and "Severance". But I
tend to associate action-RPG as (usually-but-not-always) being
top-down, (usually-but-not-always) having some sort of procedural
generation involved, and - most importantly -being far more focused on
    loot collection. But YMMV.

Anyway, I can agree at least on skipping it. As much as I wanted to
enjoy the game, I found it impossible to engage with its mechanics.
Despite its pedigreed setting, the world felt artificial and shallow.
The gameplay loop was very repetitive too

(I mean, a loop should be repetitive, I guess, but this one seemed a
bit too repetitive? Perhaps it was a lack of variety.)

and I didn't find the combat particularly interesting. I know the game
was generally well regarded so my opinion is an outlier, but I just
didn't enjoy my time in Mordor that much.

It's a good game, probably has some improvements from the first.
But I finished the first, didn't the second. If you haven't played the
first it's probably better. Not finishing the second could be chalked
up to any number of things, I'm older and less patient with games,
or it could be just too much like the first, or it could just be too repetitive. There's an online fight other people's armies thing too,
but that didn't interest me, so never tried it.

Without tryiny to open this can-of-worms again I tend to think about it
as ARPG's are games where combat is dominant vs. CRPG's are games where
    story is dominant*.

Obviously there's cross over between the two but generally games that
get tagged with ARPG on Steam aren't ones that interest me.

*As always there's nothing wrong with either of them.

ARPG used to mean games like Diablo and only games like Diablo. Now
they include other types of RPGs but yes, for ARPGs, combat is what
    matters.

I decided to call Diablo type games hack and slashers awhile back.

It's a sign of getting old I think, terms you've used for many years
somehow morph into have a different meaning. Troll is a good example,
now it's used for people who are just obnoxious or even dare to disagree
    with someone's personal opinion.

That's because all the real trolls have gone professional and taken on
job titles like "television political commentator", leaving the field
open for unskilled maggots with delusions of grandeur ;-)

But I won't fall into their trap. If you burst into a conversation

We do have a few in the UK (mostly employed by Gammon Brexit News) but
no where near as bad as a certain country across the pond where I get

I still haven't put the troll who pops up occasional into /dev/null
purely on the grounds that they are just amusing bad and pretty much
