• Return to Monkey Island - I still hate the art style

There's another clip of the "Return to Monkey Island" game available: https://twitter.com/phrenopolis/status/1564266698982600705
and I know I've said this before, but God do I hate that art-style.
The backgrounds are tolerable (I'd prefer something more lush and
looking more like it was painted) but the models? It's an eyesore and
when inevitably I do play the game

(because, who am I fooling, eventually I /am/ going to play the game.
I haven't come this far with the series to give up now)

those models are going to be a constant distraction. It's not just
that the models look as if they're all paper cut-outs, but that
angular, too-large head (and its weirdly discolored nose) is just so disquieting. It's an /ugly/ style and having to endure it for the six
or ten hours it'll take to finish is going to be a trial.

Well, maybe some modders will offer more traditionally animated
    characters. We can only hope.

On the plus side, apparently Murray the Skull is making an appearance
in the game. We all know he's the best thing about the franchise ;-)

Me too. It's on the cover of this month's US PC Gamer. Not for me.

Murray's voice in that clip just does not sound right.

As I've said before, I actually quite like the look of but I probably
won't get the game as even though I've picked up various ones in the
series I've played only one of them for a couple hours tops.

Preordered it, i dont mind the art style, but i am not a big fan either,
but a new Monkey Island is a zero day buy affair for me.

Art style always is in the eye of the beholder, I can remember having
the same discussions with Monkey Island 3 and beanpole Guybrush and MI4
with the blocky 3d look back then. The only MIs where we did not have
the discussion were the first 2 ones and the Telltale ones.

I am somewhat neutral to the style, because at least it is not Pixel art!

Art style does not bother me at all. They are bright and colorful
which is what I associate with Monkey Island.
