Here's the list of the sorta-free games on offer from Amazon for July
2022

- Maniac Mansion
- Suzerain
- Fishing: North Atlantic
- Fell Seal: Arbiter's Mark

Which seems a rather tiny offering, except that the Amazon Prime Day
give-away is still on-going, so that bulks up the number a bit.

(also newly available as part of the PrimeDay give-aways: Road Trip,
Puzzle of the Year, and Addling Adventures, all of which require a
"Legacy Games" account and client, which I'm not bothering with, so no
comments on any of those)

"Maniac Mansion" is of course a classic but it's such an /old/ game
that I doubt it will cause much excitement. I mean, it still uses the
PC beeper for its sounds <shudder>. If you can get past its
ear-destroying audio and its archaic interface, it's still as fun as
ever... but I'd wager that most Prime gamers won't stick with this one
for more than a few minutes.

"Fell Seal: Arbiter's Mark" is a turn-based RPG. Its got good reviews
but, I dunno, it's cutesy visuals and focus on tactical combat (not to
mention the dreaded isometric view) just aren't my thing.

With "Fishing: North Atlantic", you pretty much can guess what you're
getting by the title. It's a workplace-simulator set on a fishing boat
in - wait for it! - the North Atlantic. I don't mind dippin' the rod
myself on occasion, but the sport itself is rather boring (I do it
'cause there's nothing quite as tasty as freshly caught fish!) and I
usually find something else to occupy my time until the reel starts
spinning. So virtual fishing holds no appeal for me. But workplace
sims are by nature quite niche, and I'm sure this game has its
audience.

"Suzerain" is a political adventure game, albeit one where your
choices are entirely made through text-based selection. The conceit is interesting, but the gameplay isn't my cup of tea; I much prefer the
more hands-on approach. Plus I'm sort of burned out on politics right
now.

So, not the greatest collection this month, but damned if I'm not
going to add them to my library; I paid (indirectly) for these awful
games, after all! But hopefully next month's selection will be more
exciting.

Picked up, thanks for the reminder. I probably won't play any of these,
but they're there. Maybe my son will, or maybe I'll try Maniac Mansion

I see they also have a few games to play on Amazon Luna (cloud gaming) Castlevania maybe tempting, some people seem to think it's one
of the best games ever.
