• FREE Game: The Looker

So, didja ever play "The Witness"? You know, that first-person puzzle
game where you wander an island opening doors by drawing lines and
boxes? Remember that one? It was pretty good for what it was, with
lush saturated visuals, challenging puzzles and an engaging enough
story that was enough to keep you slogging through all the puzzles
    until the end.

Anyway, forget about "The Witness". I'm not here to talk about "The
Witness". Instead, I'm here to talk about a completely different game,
"The Looker", which has absolutely nothing to do with "The Witness".
You know this to be true because the names are completely different!
    ;-)

"The Looker" - now available for free at Steam - https://store.steampowered.com/app/1985690/The_Looker/ (and possibly
elsewhere, but why bother with elsewhere when its on Steam, amirite?)
is a loving parody of "The Witness", sharing much of the same visual
themes but with some tongue-in-cheek humor and less frustrating
puzzles. Honestly, as a stand-alone game it probably won't entertain
you too much unless you are familiar with the source material (that
would be "The Witness", if you haven't been paying attention) but if
you've played that game - and ever been frustrated with its puzzles
and occasional pomposity - this lighter take on the concept will
probably give you a few chuckles.

But anyway, it's a free game. That alone should get you to give it a
look. Grab it before it's gone... which it won't be, because - as far
as I can tell - they aren't gonna charge for it. Still, no reason to
    delay! Grab it now!

I have played the witness and I like it but, isn't there always a but, I
did find some of the puzzles a bit too challenging compared to say
    Portal or The Talos Principle.

Having played "The Looker" a bit, I've concluded it probably won't be
much fun unless you're familiar with "The Witness"; if you've not
played that game, "The Looker" will just seem to be a slightly odd,
not all-that-well-made first-person puzzler (an FPP?)

Even having played "The Witness", "The Looker" is only marginally
entertaining, but that may be because I didn't really enjoy "The
Witness" either. Some of the puzzles in "The Looker" are clever
(although none too difficult) but it shares the one feature that I
really disliked about "The Witness": the need to wander the map simply
    to find those puzzles.

But I can't hold any of these issues against the game; "The Looker"
makes no pretensions about being anything other than what it is: a
very niche satire of a very niche puzzler that is being given away for
free. I respect its earnestness, even if - like the game its based on
    - it is unlikely I'll play it to completion.
