    It's an interesting looking project, and - as always - I'm impressed
    by what they can do with the (GZ)Doom engine, but the whole retro vibe
    works against the game more than it helps (like the -intentionally?-
    chonky, low FPS animations, the big-pixel graphics and the 2.5D
    limitations of the engine). This game would probably have been better
    if it used a more modern engine; their choice of GZDoom was made less,
    I think, because it was easier or cheaper, and more because it was
    seen as a marketing gimmick to capture the dollars of nostalgic gamers
    (and you know how I feel about marketing gimmicks).

    That said, Selaco looks interesting enough and I may even play it if
    its ever released (I've no interest in the demo, though). I just think
    the effort of the developers would have been better spent - and gotten
    better results - using something like the Unreal or Unity engine.

    Also, why is all the blood purple?

    I did download the demo and although I though it was ok I'm not sure
    it's the type of game that will really appeal to me even when they add a
    story in.
