• Descent Underground? STFU!!!!

From Spalls Hurgenson@21:1/5 to All on Thu Mar 10 20:50:42 2022
"Descent: Underground", the embattled sequel to the original 6DOF FPS franchise, apparently isn't dead yet. Despite rumors that it was
pining for the fjords, the project still trundles on. It won't be
called "Descent: Underground" anymore (nor will it make use of any of
the original Descent assets or IP), having been instead saddled with
the silly-sounding new title, "Ships That Fight Underground" (which
does have an upside of abbreviating to STFU).

Honestly, at this point I'm not sure I care. The "Descent" games were
always a niche runner-up to other games in the FPS genre; I moderately
enjoyed the original, was bored by the second game, and barely touched
the third game. From what little I've seen of "Ships That Fight
Underground" (nee "Descent: Underground"), it wasn't doing anything to
reverse this sense of ennui. Given all the funding issues and lack of excitement about the game, it doesn't seem I'm the only one who feels
    that way.

I wish the project success but outside of pleasing some die-hard fans
I don't think they're going to make much of an impact.

As someone who the Descent games meant a lot to, I'm disgusted by this travesty and the underhanded dealing surrounding it. Thanks for pointing
    out the article though.
