    On any given Sunday DTUL
you sometimes just feel the -V4N8- random and
irresistable urge BDPP- to play a computer football game.

When that happens, BQMU- Just fire up Origin and install y olde
Madden '22 client 6BYT grab the pigskin, throw that hail mary, and enjoy!

If anyone misses out on the code then I can post up another one on the
    Steam group.

Clever (although it took me a few minutes to figure out what you were
doing). It's a nice gesture to offer the game to fellow Usenetters.

Not that I needed the code as
    a) I don't really like American football games, and
    b) even if I did, I wouldn't play a modern EA sports game anyway given
how dependent they are on DLC/loot anyway (which is why EA is happy to
give the base game away for free).

But that's just me. I'm sure somebody else will be happy to grab the
game. Thank you again for your generosity.

ASFAIK, it's because American Football and regular Football ultimately
derived from the same class of 'kicking a ball' game that had been
played since time immemorial in Europe. In the mid 19th century, some
schlub in England (in the appropriately named 'Rugby School') decided
it would be neat twist if he picked up the ball and ran it to the goal
    instead of using his feet.

His new invention was called 'Rugby Football'. Rugby football was
shortened into just 'football' in North America (and 'rugger' or
'rugby' elsewhere). Later it mutated into new forms, such as American
gridiron football, which Americans just called football because it's
easier. Meanwhile, the foot-fetishists in Europe evolved their game
into 'association football' which was sometimes abbreviated as
'asoccer' (and later just 'soccer' because they didn't want to sound
like Fonzie whenever they were talking about the game) but just as
    often still called 'football'.

So which game is 'proper' football? Depending on how you look at it,
they both are, or neither is. Both are evolutions of the same game (or
games, since codified rules didn't really exist) and neither bears all
that much similarity to the original (in fact, in many variations of
the 'original' game, there was much more use of the hands than there
    was in modern soccer). The confusion comes from the abbreviations;
what they play in America is American gridiron football, what they
play in Australia is Rugby football, what they play everywhere else is Association football. But it's all football.

What most people play on computers and programmed by EA, on the other
hand, is legalized gambling wrapped in a buggy shell. ;-)

Like in Rugby? I wish I could see more of it here in the US.

It makes a great story about how rugby was invented but unfortunately
that's most likely all it is.
