• Free 3 month trial X-Box GamePass with my video card - Advice?

From Zaghadka@21:1/5 to All on Wed Jan 10 12:41:19 2024
I will probably not continue it past the trial, but my new 4060 Ti came
with a 3 month trial of GamePass.

I'm definitely going to give Starfield a look, to see if it's anything
    I'm interested in.

    It apparently includes EAPlay too.

Any games I *must* try while the gaming's good?

Just a quick scrollthrough of titles:

Dead Space (not sure if that requires EAPro sub tho)
    Remnant 2
Cocoon (playing this now; chill, not overly difficult puzzle game,
    enjoying it)
    Yakuza 0
    Jusant
Plague Tale Requiem (only if you've finished Innocence)
    Lies of P
    Jedi Fallen Order
    Hellblade
Pentiment (I reviewed this on awhile back)

The Saboteur would be my recommendation. It's a Grand Theft Auto style
game but you play as a good guy fighting Nazis in occupied France.
It's got a great soundtrack as well. If it looks like a game you'd want
to play you can pick it up for something like $5 at GOG.com when it goes
on sale. Like right now as it happens.

Grabbed this. It is quite chill with a controller, and it's something I
can probably finish during the 3 month trial.

    Thanks for the heads up.

I'm *almost* done (97%). I've had to look up walkthroughs at 3 points
for a specific maneuver I couldn't figure, but cocoon is very good about herding you forward and teaching you a mechanic before extending its use, so
no backtracking and everything you need is right in front of you, just a
little exploring/experimenting and thought is required.

I had it for a short period of time, cancelled it after my kids had
enough of the flight simulator, never picked it up again,
humble choice so far has been the better ban for the buck!
From time to time I am thinking about picking it up again, but then I
remember I dont even have enough time to use ps+ extensively, so why bother!

Finished it in 6-1/2 hours and I did a little sightseeing. That's a very
short game for $25. Luckily, I got it for free and have no particular
need to add it to The Number, though I'm sure it will be offered for
sacrifice on my altar of free games at some point.

Apparently I missed some completionist stuff by not releasing some
creatures. I wasn't really looking for it and the achievements didn't
ping properly when I released a few of them just sightseeing. Going back
and replaying a game with near zero replay value is not my idea of fun.

The game desperately needed a "run" button by the end. Puzzles became
very long walks through their very nature. Nesting puzzles were more
    annoying than fun.

There wasn't enough of the purple universe's mechanic, IMO.

But it's a pretty cool game just like Inside and Limbo were. Just the
right amount of weird. Beautiful too, and can run on any system made in
    the last 5 years.

I'll recap it in the 'What did you play in January?' thread if I think of anything else to say about it.
