It's also not really the sort of game you need to rush out and play,
especially if you've played any of the previous "Assassin Creed"
games. It was the last title before the developers revamped the
franchise, and it was deep in the Ubisoft doldrums.
(It also featured a lot of embarassing bugs and glitches on release;
most of those were eventually patched out. It garned the game a lot of
free press at the time... although not in a good way).
Personally, I couldn't get into the game enough to actually finish it.
In part this was because it was so formulaic; partly because I didn't
care for the era (late 19th century) in which it was set, partly
because I didn't engage with the characters, and finally because the
new skill system rubbed me the wrong way.
TL;DR: Even if I didn't own it, "Assassin's Creed: Syndicate" isn't
the sort of freebie that would make me rush back to Ubisoft UPlay to
claim it.
