A little more information is needed.
What version of !NetFetch/!Hermes are you using?
Is the freeze with sending or receiving e-mail?
Are connecting to the correct servers on PlusNet ?
I only see a possible freeze if there is a problem with the actual

very slow to respond. Or the internet is down.

Chris,
I am using netfetch 5.53.
Where would I look to correct the error
The screen freezes when netfetch tries to log into mail server,
which it does periodically.
Sending this quickly since had freezeup durinf last attempt
I am not familiar with Netfetch (I beleive Hermes does the sending?)
but I am sure there are some logs (which may have to be configured)
which would give much more details about what was going on.

The intermittent PlusNet/Giganews feed has struck again and my last

Hermes keeps its logs in !NetFetch.Apps.!Hermes.Logs. There are logs

Set the mails logs to 'Detailed' in the Emailboxes Edit dialogue. ---------------------------------------------------------------------

Someone who probably knows better than either of us had Alt-Break second on their list of "things not to do" with RISC OS:
http://gerph.org/riscos/ramble/desktop-bugs.html#WindowManager_UnreliableAltbreakhandling
Whether these issues have ever been fixed on the 5.xx branch I know not, but I've always tended to view Alt-Break as "last resort, reboot afterwards" anyway, whatever system I'm using.

I think, back in the days, I had something from R-Comp that allowed me to control a RISC OS computer from another computer...
I think it was called "Remote Control Software" but it was such a long
time ago 18 maybe 19 years ago, I really can't remember much about it.

What is wrong with using VNCserve and !Avalanche. Works fine between
RISC OS machines. I often use it.
Securely across the internet?

It would also involve buying 2 licences at 60 euros each.
To be able to support say Malcolm in this case for maybe a one off

Control-Break leads to a black screen and a reboot. No messages

But you said earlier that Alt-Break worked!
Maybe you are suffering from two types of freeze?
In all the years I've been using various version of VRPC and various >>>>> versions of RISC OS, trying to Alt-Break out of a problem has Never

In all the years I have been using RISC OS, using Alt-Break has

When I was running on a Real hardware SARPC, Alt-Break did often do the

But not on Virtuals...

This means you have something in your startup, that is causing you an
issue, and possible the root cause of your other problem you need to fix this.
What applications do you have launched when you start your computer ? Are they all on the latest version of the software.
You could use !Reporter to help track down the issue.
But first tell us which applications you have starting up on when you turn your computer on?

It is a pity we have no remote control software for RISCOS to RISCOS,Andrew R has given some advice on my problem. This seems to have
eliminated the error box I was getting shortly after switch on. Unfortunately While reading my emails I have just had a creen freeze and
had to resort to Ctrl/Break.
