From Martin Taylor@21:1/5 to All on Wed Apr 14 12:16:49 2021
Hi good people been many a year since i used these news groups but here we go

I recently come across my old A3010 had been stored in the garage for years and is looking a little sorry in state so i have stripped in down, A little bit of repair work needed on the mainboard but very lucky the battery has not leaked so that is the
first thing to come out, right down to the help i need looking at the motherboard on the right hand side we have the memory slot to the right of the memory there is a IC22 chip just above that there is a c165 capacitor can some please tell me the values
of this capacitor has mine has crumbled to dust its a long blue capacitor.

This is one of the A3010 with the Adelaide daughter boards on it so i would really like to get it running again, and it was my first computer all them years ago.

    Thank you

    Martin

That information is in the TRM which is here: https://archive.org/details/a30x0trmcover/A30x0%2BA4000trm/page/n31/mode/2up page 32

    C165
    Acorn part 0621,470
Description: CPCTR 47U ALEC 10V AX
    Qty: 1

which sounds like a 47uF 10V aluminium electrolytic with axial leads.

It may be worth going around and changing all the other similar ones, since
if that one has crumbled the others might not be far behind.

It is perhaps worth noting that any Aluminium electrolytic, the most
common electrolytic type, of 47uf which will fit, will do as long as the working voltage is equal to or greater than 10V.

An example would be 47u 25V such as CPC order number CA05083 as long as it
    will fit.

Thank you very much Theo and Stuart for your fast replies, i have order the correct ones from CPC and i have ordered enough to replace the others on the board too better to be safe.

If no one is able to help then there are technical documents on Chris's
    Acorn website:

    "chrisacorns.computinghistory.org.uk/docs/Acorn/Manuals/Manuals.html"

You can also try asking on Stardot forums as well.

    Good luck.
