• The ARMbok screen is too small

From Johann 'Myrkraverk' Oskarsson@21:1/5 to All on Mon Jan 18 14:22:30 2021
    Dear c.s.a.h,

I'm not sure if this should be a hardware question, or software, but
    here goes.

I find everything on the ARMbok too small. Is there a way to change
the resolution to something smaller, and therefore blow up the pixels,
or is there some way to configure RISC OS to use larger fonts for
    everything?

Note: I am very new to RISC OS.

Also, since we're in the hardware section, does the ARMbok have a way
to use an external monitor of more normal size? I don't recall seeing
anything on it that looks like VGA or HDMI.

I found "large mode" in PineBook Software & Settings, so things are
    ok for now.

    I'm still curious about that.

There is a port (HDMI?) which is covered with white tape.
The Linux side can use it (I believe) but, at the moment,
RISC OS can't. It's something which is being looked at but,
as yet, there is no information on when it might come to
    fruition.

Yes, you can enlarge the text. Go to 'Big Mode'. Mentioned in the booklet
    that came with the machine.

No feed to external monitor - yet

Thanks[1]; due to moving just after receiving the machine, a little over
a year ago, I seem to have lost the booklet. The only documents I have
are the ones included on the hard disk.

Is there enough information floating around that I can code the HDMI
driver myself? [Not that I'm sure I'll do it, but I'm curious if
    sufficient docs are available.]

[Also, thank you John for explaining what the taped port is about; I
have not removed the tape yet.]

I think you need to talk to Andrew Rawnsley on that one. Both as Armbok supplier/developer and in his role with Risc OS developments.

The full-time developers haven't managed a solution yet.
Whether or not there is information available, who knows?

Try talking to Andrew at RComp.

But as this is particularly Armbok related, Andrew is best placed to deal
with the issue and co-ordinate any developer, even volunteer developer,
    effort.

I might do that when I have some more confidence with the DDE and RISC
    OS; thank you.
