Holy crap, this newsgroup is still here .... wandering down memory lane.
What great flame wars were had in 97-98. What a mass of knowledge
I've forgotten.... and replaced with other knowledge.

I wonder if HOWARD25 ever managed to download from that ftp site.

So, does anyone have Ultima III that's actually playable in an emulator
at this point?? That's the last burning issue I have with my old Atari addiction and one I would replay.... I think I STILL HAVE my original
character disk. No way to read it though.... hardware gone a long time
ago. I recently found in my eprom stash a couple copies of OMNIMON XL
that I never used and I zapped them with UV as I needed them for other
(retro) projects. That was stupid, I know. I should have read them in
    first to archive them.

Try this one. http://www.atarimania.com/game-atari-400-800-xl-xe-ultima-iii_5595.html. Now you're probably wondering why it looks B&W. It actually isn't if you use a real system but that's because it's an effect of artifacting. The good news is that some
emulators emulate that. Altirra is one such program that does it.

As far as Ultima III, it was was favorite of 1 - 4 on the Atari. I foolishly threw away my box (actually remember doing it) but kept the map. Other than the disks, did you keep anything else?

Welcome back and head on over to AtariAge.com. Lots of Atari fans over there.
