I have exchanged 6 messages with Steve Denson. He told me that, as far
as he knows, the last version of Mallard BASIC-80 was 1.47, for the
PcW10.
However, here's a letter from the October 1993 edition of PCW Plus:
< This information about Mallard BASIC version 1.48 - apparently the
< version supplied with the new PcW10s - may prove to be useful.
<
< There is only one change from version 1.47, which involves 8 bytes,
and is
< an additional error check for FETCHKEY$. However, this simple change
< affects most other locations, and POKEs in Tipoff articles and
Streamlined
< BASIC, for example, will need amendment.
<
< However, this isn't as bad as it seems. Any reference from 256 to
9141
< will work identically to the corresponding POKE for Mallard 1.47.
Any
< reference from 9142 to the end of BASIC (programs now start at
31945) must
< be increased by 8 from the version 1.47 POKE. The arguments of the
POKEs
< are not affected unless they are references to 2 byte addresses - in
which
< case the same rules apply.

So, is anybody out there who has this rarity?
Yours Sincerely,
