Used T5120s are available cheaply. I am thinking of buying one to play
with Solaris 11 at home. Opinions on the h/w are solicited.

I have one, running Solaris 10, and am quite pleased with it.
However -- the CPUs [...] are tailored for lots of small processes.
Note that you have three choices of number of built-in disk
drives. 4, 8 (which I have), and 16. The 8 and 16 are nice for
running RAID using zfs.
And note that some will have hardware RAID in them, [...]
So try
to purchase the one with the setup you want -- hardware RAID or not.
Also -- note that the drive carriers are different from those
used on the T2000, the X4200, and the X4100M2 [...]
Also -- you may have one or two CPU chips. And you will want
lots of memory with those CPUs.
