I think the guy just doesn't want to pay the fee to dump the old

There are actually a number of hobbyists that like MCA and MCA machines.
I've heard that the Digi multi-port serial boards have been claimed. I suspect it's a matter of time before the terminal cards are.
Why? Unless you have an actual IBM MF with a 3174 etc to connect them
to they're completely useless.
