• Reinstall Magic Mouse skid

From Wade Garrett@21:1/5 to All on Thu Apr 19 18:39:43 2018
One of the two black plastic skids on the bottom of my Magic Mouse has
popped off and I can't get it to snap back in. If it matters, it's the
one on the same side as the on/off switch. I don't really see anything
broken off from it or from the mouse itself.

I can one end in and flush or the other- but not both. One end stick up
so it's not parallel to the case bottom.

Any suggestions to fix? I'd hate to shell out $80 for a new one!

Under magnification, I saw that the mouse-facing side of the rail has a
tiny perpendicular spud at one end and a slot at the other. These match
up with a corresponding spud/slot arrangement on the mouse body.

First I tried to just line them up and push on both ends of the rail but
the didn't work. Then I tried putting the rail spud into the mouse slot
first and then levering the other end-- the rail slot- over the mouse
spud but that wouldn't go either.

Finally I tried putting the rail slot over the mouse spud first and then putting serious simultaneous thumb pressure on the rail spud at the
other end and they snapped back together fine.

Not having to shell out $80 for a new Magic Mouse now, I'm thinking I
can treat myself to a nice bottle of my favorite adult beverage.

Congrats, and thanks for following up. I've got a couple of these in a
box, and this may just come in handy one day. : )
