Folks, there's something in mythical devices that make hunting them
intriguing. Here we have SCSI to Ethernet, about the same time as the introduction of the PS/2.

From my non-EE understanding, the Mac system CPU gave priority to disk
access -AND- the SCSI chipset was not as good. I'm no Mac Fanboy, I'm
sure there are deeper reasons for the Nodem performance. One being that switches were not a thing yet.

If any of you have heretical knowledge of Mac accessories like the SCSI
to Ethernet devices, I won't burn you at the stake... maybe a light
scourging with a Model 95 SCSI cable. I hear suffering is good for the
    soul...

    Three of the known models:
NODEM - Invented by Adaptec @1988, sold to "LRU Systems" @1993.
    Ether+ by Compatible Systems
NuvoLink SC by NuvoTech, but actually made by Compatible Systems.
FastNet SCSI by Dove Computer Corporation.

Downloadable code. DL'd at boot, like Portmaster? Or just updating EEPROM?

SCSI II command set, 5MB/s speed

    8051 MPU

I have a SCSI to pcmcia adapter..., It only reads memory cards.... You can use a pcmcia universal memory adapter for
various types of card memory though... Very few drivers were ever available for it... Non boot-able as it needed to see the drivers first..
