    I may have a work around the problem for those who use *nix, using
    leafnode, the problem IMHO is caused by NN and TB combination.

    What I meant, to stop the problem affecting Thunderbird when trying to
    post articles to Kevin NNTP server, leafnode seems to fix the issue, is
    a work around.

    A coincidence that all 3 free newsgroups providers went down all at the
    same time? is weird!!

    It crashes even when sending to eternal-septempber.org, so it's not
    limited to Kev's news server.

    Also, this is definitely a problem with the Thuderbird client. No matter
    what is going on the server side or on the network, the client should
    not crash... even if it receives a pink unicorn instead of a valid NNTP response. Plus this is a regression in the 102.x branch, the 91.x one
    does not have this problem and is perfectly stable under the same exact conditions.
