Go to Google Groups and mark the posts as spam. Report the email
accounts to Google for ToS violation. Maybe they will do something about
it if enough people complain... but I have my doubts as it can be rather difficult to fight bots, even if one actually wants to.

And it's not just this NG either.

If you are using an email client/newsreader, you can setup a kill file
or message filter to get rid of the posts on your end.

These pretty much have to be stopped at the originating news service
and providers like Eternal September do not monitor the "abuse" Email.
There has been a spoofer on another group I follow forging the info of regular posters and sending really nasty stuff. ET has ignored
complaints and that poster is still active. I doubt they can do
anything about a spam bot that changes names with every post. Filters
don't work either unless you want to block all posters from that
    source. .

Yeah. Though the posts are actually really easy to filter out:

    email: hesterholt[N]@gmail.com where [N] is a number
    name: hester holt
body: URL to the following domain: booksca.ca

Of course they can easily change the name/email and use bitly or
something similar to change the URL, but so far they have been pretty consistent.

    No, that's not true.

There are a lot of newsgroups that are getting spammed. But definitely
    not all of them are.

It depends on where the spam is coming from.

IMHO the smaller text only public news servers & operators /try/ to keep
    their servers clean.

Obviously sometimes some user manages to get through and do something.
But the responsible newsmasters respond quickly and take action to stop
    spam originating from their server(s) / network(s).

Sadly, it's the bigger players that tend to not care about spam.

Mostly English-language newsgroups are being spammed. Others aren't
    that much affected.
Most spam comes from Google Groups.

They say they immediately ban forgers too but they don't.

Maybe, but that's not what I've meant in first place. We have 2 Threads open with responses to these spam messages from this newsgroup, showing these spammers they hit some active addresses.

Hm, either they have no more books to advertise or somebody got rid of
    em. -knock knock-

Or maybe it was the general lack of activity what made them ignore this NG.

    We shall see...
