Senior Linux Systems Engineer

Location: Dallas, TX
Position Type: Direct Hire
Residency Requirements: US Citizens GC EAD only

Strong technical skills in Linux, Solaris and, VMware. Sound expertise in Storage, Networking and Middleware. The candidate will be working on multiple projects within an agile environment to support building infrastructure requirements, troubleshooting,
and problem solving and solution design.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Installation, patching, upgrading, tuning, configuring and trouble-shooting Solaris zones, Linux based operating systems (Red Hat, CentOS) and VMware in an enterprise environment.
• Work closely with Development, Network, Security, Storage and Database teams to complete builds.
• Optimize the usage of existing environments/resources.
• Handle configuration and support for a portfolio of custom Java applications that are running Resin application servers.
• Day to day administration of operating systems and middleware.
• Perform regular and on-demand Backups and Recoveries of key Systems.
• Support and troubleshoot other infrastructure components including internal and external DNS, email servers and, LDAP authentication.
• Must be able to perform under tight timelines and schedules.
• Respond to end-user requests and escalations from our IT Helpdesk.
• Some travel maybe required.
• Ability to work nights and weekends; on-call support.

Required Skills
5+ years’ experience with the following skill sets…
• Solid understanding of Solaris Zones & Linux Operating Systems: Red Hat, CentOS
• Virtualization and Storage technologies
• VMware in an enterprise environment – MUST – should be able to stand up a VM
• Experience on mounting Windows drive in Solaris
• Hands on scripting experience
• Experience building out storage (SAN)
• Linux services/protocols such as DNS, DHCP, NFS, SMTP, etc.
• Experience in installing and maintaining middleware applications such as:
o Java
o Resin
o Solr/MySQL
o Couchbase
o Apache Tomcat
o ActiveMQ
• Knowledge of hardware
• Solid understanding of Sever/Application deployment techniques, methodologies, and tools

Preferred
• Programming (Perl, PHP, etc.) experience a plus
• Experience with Puppet, Nagios also a plus
• Experience with data center migration is a plus
