• HELP *needed* to merge fragmented DATASET

From emax@21:1/5 to All on Thu Jun 29 07:51:33 2023
    Dear all,

    PLEASE HELP ME.

I am a legal historian who is not very familiar with IT tools.

Together with some colleagues we are trying to set up a survey, but the dataset is very fragmented (please see the attach.)

Would anyone be able to help us put it in order? (by a fuzzy merge process?)

    Thank you very much,

    Emanuele

" ... set up a survey" does not seem to describe whatever
    you have that already exists.

Whatever you mean by 'fragmented' is not apparent, but
perhaps that would be evident in the attachment -- which did not
arrive, because these Usenet groups do not allow attachments.

You might put what you have at one of the free online depositories.
Or you could dump it to comma-delimited format, and include that text.
Or you could describe a few records.

Or you could post with the attachment to the SPSS group,

"Fuzzy merge" is not a term I remember.

    Thank you very much,

This is about a month late, but the SPSSX-L forum that Rich mentioned does not accept attachments either. But the SPSS forum on Nabble does:

    http://spssx-discussion.165.s1.nabble.com/

And you can then provide a link to the uploaded file that anyone can use.
