WindSLIC: A Tool for Injecting SLIC into UEFI Systems
WindSLIC is a tool that can inject a Software Licensing Internal Code (SLIC) into the ACPI tables of a Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) system. SLIC is a mechanism used by some OEMs to pre-activate Windows operating systems on their hardware.
By injecting a SLIC into a UEFI system, users can install and activate Windows without needing a product key or an internet connection.
WindSLIC is developed by AR1972 and is available on GitHub[^1^]. It consists of several components, such as:

WindSLIC_EFI: A UEFI application that can inject SLIC into the system's ACPI tables at boot time.
WindSLIC_NTFS: A Windows driver that can inject SLIC into the system's ACPI tables at runtime.
WindSLIC_bootmgr: A modified Windows boot manager that can inject SLIC into the system's ACPI tables before loading the OS.
Installer_EFI_*: Scripts and applications that can install WindSLIC_EFI on the system's EFI partition.
Installer_NTFS_*: Scripts and applications that can install WindSLIC_NTFS on the system's NTFS partition.
MSDM: A tool that can extract the Microsoft Data Management (MSDM) table from the system's firmware. MSDM contains the Windows product key embedded by the OEM.
LicenseData.exe: A tool that can add the product key, marker, and SLP string to the system's NVRAM. These are required for activating Windows with SLIC.
To use WindSLIC, users need to have a UEFI system that supports custom ACPI table loading. They also need to have a valid SLIC file for their hardware and Windows version. WindSLIC does not provide any SLIC files or product keys, as they are property of
the OEMs and Microsoft. Users are responsible for obtaining them legally and ethically.
WindSLIC is a powerful and useful tool for users who want to install and activate Windows on their UEFI systems without hassle. However, it is not intended for piracy or illegal use. Users should respect the license agreements of the OEMs and Microsoft,
and use WindSLIC only for personal and non-commercial purposes.
WindSLIC is based on the work of previous SLIC injectors, such as SLIC Toolkit, SLIC Dump Toolkit, and SLIC Mod. However, WindSLIC has some unique features and advantages over them, such as:
WindSLIC can inject SLIC into UEFI systems, while most other SLIC injectors only work on legacy BIOS systems.
WindSLIC can inject SLIC at different stages of the boot process, such as before or after loading the OS. This gives users more flexibility and control over the injection process.
WindSLIC can inject SLIC into the system's ACPI tables without modifying the firmware or the OS files. This makes WindSLIC safer and less intrusive than other SLIC injectors that require flashing the firmware or patching the OS files.
WindSLIC can extract the MSDM table from the system's firmware and use it to activate Windows. This ensures that users can use the original product key embedded by the OEM, rather than using a generic or fake one.
WindSLIC is compatible with most UEFI systems that support custom ACPI table loading. However, some UEFI systems may have security features or restrictions that prevent WindSLIC from working properly. For example, some UEFI systems may have Secure Boot
enabled, which prevents unauthorized code from running at boot time. Some UEFI systems may have locked NVRAM variables, which prevent LicenseData.exe from adding the activation data to the NVRAM. Some UEFI systems may have incompatible ACPI tables, which
cause WindSLIC to fail or crash.
To troubleshoot these issues, users can refer to the ReadMe.md file included in the WindSLIC repository. It contains detailed instructions and tips on how to install and use WindSLIC on different UEFI systems. Users can also contact AR1972 through GitHub
or email for further support or feedback.
