• Where does the DNS hit go in ToR browsing?

From groovee@cyberdude.com@21:1/5 to All on Mon Apr 6 19:36:45 2020
It says that TOR browsing is completely secure, your ISP cannot know which sites you're going to, but I'm curious, because I know nothing about TOR - where does the DNS request go? If it goes to my ISP's DNS server, then obviously they know which site I'
m going to, right? Or does the TOR network have it's own DNS server/s somewhere (in cyberspace)?

    Thanks.

All the times that I've used or seen TOR used have been through a SOCKS
    server interface.

SOCKS has the ability to ask the server to resolve the hostnames, be it
    DNS or something else.

So, yes, DNS queries do take place, but they are done by the server
    where the traffic comes out.

Also, I'm of the opinion that TOR is not the panacea that some make it
out to be. It is significantly better than not using it. But there are
    still problems.
