2 six-sided dice
Tokens for each player
Property cards
Chance and Community Chest cards
Houses and hotels
Money (Monopoly currency)
Board Setup:
Place the board in the center.
Shuffle the Chance and Community Chest cards and place them face-down on the board.
Separate the property cards into their respective color groups.
Choose Tokens:
Each player chooses a token and places it on "GO."
Starting Money:
Give each player a set amount of money. Common starting amounts are $1500 or $2000.
Gameplay:
Roll the Dice:
Players take turns rolling the dice and moving their tokens around the board.
Property Acquisition:
When a player lands on an unowned property, they can choose to buy it. If they decline, the property goes up for auction.
Building Houses and Hotels:
Players can improve their properties by buying houses and hotels. The rent increases with each improvement.
Jail:
Players can end up in jail by landing on the "Go to Jail" space, rolling three doubles in a row, or drawing a certain Chance or Community Chest card.
Bankruptcy:
The game continues until all players except one are bankrupt.
Go:
If you are referring to the ancient strategy game Go, the rules are quite different. The game involves placing black or white stones on the intersections of a gridded board. The objective is to surround territory and capture the opponent's stones. The
player with the most territory at the end of the game wins.
