    Hello.

Old (2012?) HP Officejet Pro 8600 N911g's web service won't turn on from
its internal embedded web server (its home page says its web services is
not registered to ePrint), physical screen controls, and in mac OS apps (https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/HP_Quick_Start/osx/Applications/HP_Easy_Start.app.zip
2.10.0.201112 and Apple's App Store's HP Smart app).

The printer does have an internal IPv4 address that I can access over
wifi. Wireless (e.g., AirPrint) print works too. It doesn't seem to
connect to the Internet or something? I don't think its web services
stuff was enabled ever. I don't see any option to test its Internet
    connection.

I am trying to enable so I can download and upgrade its firmware, but
can't acccess its web services. I don't have a Windows PC to upgrade
    from https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/printers/ojp8600n911_2011A/OJP8600_N911g-n_2011A.exe
and can't find its macOS firmware updater since it is on old CKP1CN1829AR.

The printer does print and scan just fine locally though.

Thank you for reading and hopefully answering soon. :)

I recently found an Officejet 6600 and brought it home to play with
it. The manual indicates that it is from around 2011, so might be similar
    to yours.

It has two options to connect to a computer. Either "direct". Then it
becomes a WIFI hotspot itself, but has no connection to the internet. And another option (can't check right now what it's exactly called), where it serves as WIFI client. When setting it up it shows a list of WIFI ESSIDs
it found. Select your and provide the PIN for it. That way it becomes part
of your WIFI home network. That way it also has access to the internet.
