    https://vmssoftware.com/about/roadmap/

    A few highlights:

    * VMS x86-64 9.2-3 Update 1 is expected in March
    * VMS x86-64 9.2-4 is expected summer 2026 (which make me *guess*
    that he next major release 9.3 or 10.0 first will be out in 2027
    or later)
    * TCP/IP 7.0 is expected summer 2026
    * Java 8 update 412B and 412C are expected this month (no timeline
    for Java 17 provided)
    * VMS Alpha 8.4-2L1 and 8.4-2L2 and VMS Itanium 8.4-2L3 are
    now supported until 2035 (10 years from now)

    Skip it and go straight to Java 21?

    Does it have to be either/or?

    Java 17 should be pretty far in development, so I am confident
    that we will get it.

    Java 21 may come later. Or they may skip 21 and the next
    for VMS will be 25. Who knows. I think as a principle
    they should release all LTS versions for VMS.

    An EAK for Java17 has just been provided to OpenVMS Ambassadors. That implies that general release might be relatively soon. Or not, depending on how the beta (alpha) testing goes.
