Frequently Asked Questions on Air France Baggage Policy
The Air France carry-on baggage policy allows you to carry 1 or 2 hand baggage items, plus 1 personal accessory item, depending on your travel class. Passengers travelling on Economy Class fares are allowed 1 hand baggage item plus 1 accessory bag, with
a combined weight not exceeding 26lb/12kg.

Passengers travelling on Premium Economy, Business, and First Class (La Première) are entitled to carry 2 hand baggage items plus 1 accessory bag, subject to a combined weight of up to 40lb/18kg.

    The hand baggage’s size must not exceed 55cm x 35cm x 25cm, and that of the accessory bag must not exceed 40cm x 30cm x 15cm.

If your baggage is lost, delayed, or missing, you must report it immediately at the AIR FRANCE KLM Baggage Service counter at the airport. You will be asked to fill out a Property Irregularity Report (PIR), after which you will be given a file number
through which you can trace your bag(s) or file a claim.
If you’ve left the airport, you must inform Air France online (or through the mobile app), but no later than 48 hours after arrival. You can track the status of your missing baggage by calling the Baggage Service office at the number provided in your
report, or through the online baggage search tool.

If Air France can’t find your baggage within 72 hours of your notifying the airline, you should:
    1. Log in to the online baggage search tool
    2. Fill out the inventory and claim form
When filling out the form, be sure to describe the contents of your missing bag as accurately as possible, and also mention the value of each missing item, such as clothes, shoes, etc.

If Air France is unable to locate your bag 21 days after your flight landed, they will refer to the values provided by you in the form to set up a compensation claim. This procedure will be automatically initiated and you can be paid a compensation of up
to SDR 1,288 or approx. €1,607, which is the maximum payable amount per the Montreal Convention.

However, if you had made a special declaration stating that the value of your bag’s contents exceeds €1,607 and paid an additional fee for it before traveling, you will be paid a higher compensation based on the higher value declared by you.
