The baggage fees increase with time—the best time to purchase baggage is at the time of booking. The later you buy, the more you have to pay.
Baggage Size and Weight
Your free personal carry-on item (such as a purse or a handbag) should not be more than 45 x 35 x 20cm (18 x 14 x 8in) in size. Although there’s no weight restriction, it must be able to be safely stowed, otherwise, it must be checked in per applicable
charges. Bags checked at the gate will attract higher charges.
Your carry-on bag must not exceed 56 x 46 x 25cm (22 x 18 x 10in) in size and 35lb/16kg in weight.
You can bring the following items for free onboard (if using):
Mobility aids for passengers with a disability.
A car seat and stroller for children.

According to Spirit Airlines’ baggage rules, your baggage fees will depend on your route, when and how you pay, and your membership status. Spirit Airlines’ baggage policy requires all passengers to pay a baggage fee—except passengers who have
purchased a Bundle It or Boost It combo and Free Spirit members holding a Gold status.

The baggage fee can be paid when purchasing your ticket (cheapest), after booking (website/mobile app/phone), during the check-in window starting 24 hours prior to departure, at the airport kiosk/check-in counter, or departure gate (costliest).

Baggage Size and Weight Requirements
Baggage size requirements. The combined dimensions (Length + Width + Height) of a checked bag must not exceed 158cm/62in. Bags exceeding the size limit will incur an oversize baggage fee. Bags exceeding 203cm/80in will not be accepted (other than
mobility aids and musical instruments).
Baggage weight requirements. The maximum weight of a checked bag must not exceed 40lb/18.1kg (50lb/23kg for Bundle It/Boost It combos). Bags exceeding the size and weight limits will incur an overweight baggage fee. Bags weighing more than 100lb/45kg (
50lb/23kg for Peru) will not be accepted (excluding mobility aids and musical instruments).
Spirit Airlines baggage rules require name identification tags outside all bags, and it is highly recommended to place a tag inside your bag as well. If you purchase your baggage allowance and check in online, you can use the Fast Bag Drop at select
airports to save time.

If your checked baggage is missing or doesn’t arrive, you must immediately file a Delayed Baggage Report—either online via the virtual Baggage Service office, vBSO, or with a Spirit Airlines representative at the airport. After your file your report,
you will receive a Baggage Irregularity Receipt or a Luggage Service Report along with a File ID for tracking your baggage and settling a claim, if necessary.

Delayed/missing baggage must be reported:

Spirit Airlines’ Liability for Mobility Aids, Assistive Devices, and Wheelchairs
If your mobility aid, assistive device, or wheelchair is damaged by Spirit Airlines, the criteria for calculating the loss will be per the provisions of the U.S. Department of Transportation, as explained below.

On domestic flights. You will be fully compensated for the loss or damage—regardless of any rule that limits the liability for lost or damaged baggage.

Portable Oxygen Concentrators (POCs)
Spirit Airlines baggage policy lays out the following rules for passengers traveling with Portable Oxygen Concentrators (POCs) that they intend to use onboard:

Must inform Spirit at least 48 hours before departure.
POCs are exempt from baggage fees.
The POC must be FAA-approved.
If the POC is not FAA-approved, it must have the following label in red letters:
Passengers must bring their own batteries to power their POCs.
The batteries must be fully charged to power the POC for at least 150% of the flight’s duration, incl. ground connection time and unexpected delays.
Passengers must carry spare batteries in their carry-on baggage and pack them in such a manner that they are protected from damage and short-circuiting.
Passengers are not allowed to use the aircraft’s power outlets.
