• NEWBIE: ENTERING RSTS DATE

From John Bennett@21:1/5 to All on Sat Nov 18 21:57:49 2023
    Hi all
I had a lot of experience with RSTS up to V9 many moons ago.
I just succeeded in booting 9.3 on a Mac using simh.
The first question it asks is:
    Enter today's date as DAY-MONTH-YEAR (e.g., 7-SEP-85)
but it doesn't accept a date in that format.
    Help please, and be gentle.
What is the correct date format, and can it accept 21st century dates?

PS the disk I booted was boot_stock_rl02.dsk

V9 does not handle Y2K dates.

So I got the answer it can't do 21st C dates.

I'd still like an answer on why 9.3 won't accept a date in the suggested format please.

What date are you typing in? It won't take any date outside
it's range of valid dates and will just keep prompting.

I typed a variety of dates, including the example offered 7-SEP-85
