• OAKCDROM no drive MSCDEX no driver

From vjp2.at@at.BioStrategist.dot.dot.co@21:1/5 to All on Mon Jun 26 18:40:10 2023
OAKCDROM says it can't find the drive
and MSCDEX can't find the drivers.

Is it possible the problem has to do with my ATA/SATA/AHCI settings?

I had to turn off SATA and UEFI in order to install triple boot.

Have you tried a different driver? Search for, for example, cd1.sys, which is what I use.

OAKCDROM is for S/ATA based CDROM drives only.

For USB CDROM drive, you'll need [1] USB driver; and [2] a USB Mass Storage driver with CDROM driver support, or a USB CDROM driver.

Upon looking, the one I have does indeed seem to be oak, so... shrug.

But there are other DOS CD drivers. Try using that as a search term, see what happens.

Also, note what JJ said re: USB drives.

Unrelated: would you mind changing your quote character to something a bit
more "normal", please? The ">" angle bracket is very common and is
essentially a standard; a few other characters (notably ":") are also considered valid, but your choice of "*+-" is very much not and might confuse Usenet apps when trying to quote you. (I had to do some manual editing above because mine basically threw its hands up and said "I don't know WTF I'm looking at.")
