• Goodbye NNTP

From Old Swag@21:1/5 to All on Tue Sep 6 21:27:04 2022
At 2022 I'm not sure anyone even cares. Winding the clock back to 2002 the internet was a useful tool for learning and technical discussion. Richard Dawe and I were working on sigaltstack for DJGPP libc at the time. We were already connected to Asia,
which supplied a steady email stream of spam but we were too hopeful about our newly found Russian relationship to say anything about that. 'This didn't happen as hoped' - William Barr, CSIS 2020. Wind the clock forward twenty years and it's difficult to
even find your old nntp profile. Most of the western world has knelt to the beautiful branding of google and apple. Subtly, these mass-appointed tech custodians tell us what to think.

I have taken a personal coarse of action, as I'm sure several of you have. It was one of the best experiences of my life and I wish you all at 2001 well.

Just out of curiosity, which course of action did you take?
