• Windows burns too much CPU - use a tablet if possible

From Dave@21:1/5 to All on Wed Mar 29 09:51:01 2023
As someone who has used Windows since the days of Windows 95, running on
16MB of RAM, including a TCP/IP stack and browser, I am now only using
Windows when I can't do what I want on one of my Android devices.

The only reason for this is because Windows won't stop burning CPU for
no apparent reason. It may be anti-virus background and update checks,
but time has moved on, and energy wasting behaviour isn't on any more.

Microsoft has kept up with AI, but it seems like they have let the edge
    slip on the OS segment.

It seems the best way to use Windows going forward is to install the
software, and disconnect the computer from the internet. This way you'll
have powerful apps and be able to safely turn off as much of the
    background processing as you can.

I suspect you may be referring to Microsoft Windows Defender background actions.
Unfortunately Microsoft has made Defender integral to the O/S so there's no way to remove it. Microsoft does not target low powered ARM CPU tablets and has layered many mandatory processes, it's no longer a "hobby" operating system. Perhaps it's time to
take a look at Linux flavors.
