Yeah, I guess. I tried ChromeBooks for a bit — mostly to see how practical running Linux (Debian) on a cheap "laptop" with good battery life would be. It didn't take long to tire of the ChromeOS overhead. And no one thinks of Linux when they think of a ChromeBook, even though it does run on a Linux kernel.
Chromebooks are rampant in grade schools, from what I have seen.
