Good advice. He might reveal that he's both on Windows
and a few versions behind.
I'm not sure he can easily build Pan on his distro.

Russell is in a deluded world where he's the only intelligent being,
snorting meth to the head, and playing around on an overpowered
computer lacking an SSD. Anyone could compile Pan without a
User-Agent header, as he did,
but most would feel like a total
masturbatory retard, he lacks this self-correcting thought.

Because it's a GUI app, and he's been spewing "only pussies use a GUI
crutch" for literally 8 years:
"a "desktop" is another GUI "crutch" or "shell" between the user and the >machine." - Feeb Nov 2015
Since he's ALWAYS been a sad-sack GuhNoo liar and hypocrite, he finally
hid the Pan User-Agent header and began lying that his posts are
submitted with a command-line Linux newsreader.

It's this kind of nutty shit from Russell, that tells you he's on
meth. People who abuse Red Bull are already bad enough, people that snort/smoke/shoot crystal are beyond Satanic. Just laughable to live
that way, but it's addictive.

So, you consider people, of African descent, subhuman (even though that
would mean every race, having come from Africa ultimately, is lacking
something), and you consider a, legitimately established, disability
income as just government welfare, for a drug addict.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multiregional_origin_of_modern_humans
The multiregional theory is not the same as the older polygenetic theory
but it does pose good questions about Chris Stringer's out of Africa
theory.

It was neat, but it added absolutely nothing to the experience of using Linux. Most people quickly realize that they want that window of theirs
to disappear as quickly as possible, same with the desktop. The only
effect that I think people can live with is MacOS's magic lamp
minimization one. It's pretty and it also makes a lot of sense.

Of course Mac has to screw it up by not allowing you to shut down the application with one click – which I'll never understand. That's the opposite of efficient.

Yeah, but when you think about it, even Windows applications don't shut
down with one click anymore. A lot of them just minimize to the tray or continue working in the background because they're "modern" apps.

Okay, but I don't use Windows. I guess I do run into that with Telegram and Discord in Linux, but they're designed to stay in your panel to show when
new posts come in. What's the point of doing this with a word processor or a brower, as examples?

Yeah, but when you think about it, even Windows applications don't shut
down with one click anymore. A lot of them just minimize to the tray or
continue working in the background because they're "modern" apps.

I'm the same way. That's probably why the virtual desktops stuff doesn't appeal to me as much as it might to a programmer. They probably need to
have 75 tabs open in their browser as well as a number of programs
whereas I am content to use two or three applications simultaneously at max.

I use one extra virtual desktop because sometimes I'm writing something
and,
when I want to get on the Internet, I would just as soon leave the
editor open on the other window. It also works well when using NoMachine
to connect to another computer. One window for the local computer, one
for the remote computer.

Hey, I only have 37 tabs open in Brave on this box. Then there's the
Firefox and Tor browsers.
I'm not even going to count on my work Windows box. Multiple Brave
instances with multiple tabs. Sometimes I do a little pruning.

I tend to have a desktop per project with a browser open on each. The browsers accumulate tabs as I search for documentation, open bug tickets,
and so forth. We have multiple sites so I may be researching a reported problem for several different sites, plus whatever I'm working on at the time. It gets messy.

I could never do that. The moment there are more than about five tabs
open, I start to close them.
Similar to this but the window would burn to a pile of ashes that sat at
the bottom of the screen for a couple seconds, then fade and disappear
That seems to be more common than is limiting the number of tabs open. I guess that might be why many people need more powerful computers than
what I use.

It wasn't a "Linux idea". The Video Toaster in the 80s - and probably
TV graphics before that - would let you put videos on all sides of a
rotating cube.

And that was every time you closed an app window.
