I'm not sure he can easily build Pan on his distro.

Are you trying to say you can trace his posts to Pan, running under
Windows? If so, it'd be funny, but curious that you think you can
    determine that.

windows version of pan can likely run in wine. don't mind creon, he often has fits of grandeur.

re-compiling without header is unnecessary, you can just sniff the protocol for "User-Agent:" and rewrite packets.

but let's watch creon do his thing...

The multiregional theory is not the same as the older polygenetic theory

Everything in the supposedly "more evolved" races came from the
original people, it's the universal race, black, African, original,

Ah, so Russell is just installing a pre-compiled version, despite all
his bravado. Figures. You all know more about this nitty gritty
stuff, than I really do, honestly, I use operating systems relatively
as a "typical" user, but with insight. It allows me to make a head to
head comparison, based on what I've used, even having bought a Mac at
    one time.

The truth is, there are ways I miss running Linux, Mint in particular,
but Winblows just has that magic of being the bleeding edge of desktop computing. As long as my hardware still handles it, it seems sensible
to use. But I'd install Mint in a heartbeat, if an update decided I
needed a hardware upgrade, to use Windows efficiently.

Free hint, you don't know my mom's email address, and my dad died in
2007. My mom also knows I'm bi, and that my GF is trans. So think I
give a rat's ass, even if you did find a way to contact her.

Years ago, a cola troll sent an email to "Linux advocate" Creepy Chris Ahlstrom's wife:

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Your husband needs a break from Usenet when he continually calls people
'cunts'. Kindly have a chat with him." -------------------------------------------------------------------------

    ha!

In response, Ahlstrom's wife kicked his ass: -------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Hey
    1. who is this person and how does he have my email address at work and
    2. why do you use such a disgusting term. That really does bother me...
you are like Jeb the soccer coach! Pig. -------------------------------------------------------------------------

and Creepy moaned to cola: -------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm going to have to deal with my wife's anger over fairly standard
COLA pub behavior among men/boys, while the anonymous sick bastard is
    tickled pink about it. -------------------------------------------------------------------------

That was a classic! What made it even better was everyone knew how pussy-whipped Ahlstrom was, and that his wife wore the pants in the
    household:

"My wife used to dole out my weekly allowance, $20, and then quiz me
about where I spent it, as she didn't expect me to buy snacks and such.
She's a lot more tolerant now, and it took years of resistance."

    JHC.

You don't let your tranny boyfriend boss you around, do you?

    I don't have a tranny boyfriend, I have a transgender girlfriend. And
no, she doesn't "boss me around", that's idiotic.

It was neat, but it added absolutely nothing to the experience of using

Of course Mac has to screw it up by not allowing you to shut down the application with one click – which I'll never understand. That's the
    opposite of efficient.

A friend of mine loved that shit. What was that funky Windows option? With
that enabled if you dragged one of our GUIs it would leave pecker tracks
across the screen plus other weird issues.

Yeah, but when you think about it, even Windows applications don't shut
down with one click anymore. A lot of them just minimize to the tray or continue working in the background because they're "modern" apps.

No, I don't recall .. but it sounds like it was crap, so its for a good reason to not remember.

It was neat, but it added absolutely nothing to the experience of using Linux. Most people quickly realize that they want that window of theirs
to disappear as quickly as possible, same with the desktop. The only effect that I think people can live with is MacOS's magic lamp minimization one. It's pretty and it also makes a lot of sense.

And of course, others copied it:

    <https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZEDIej7EbL8>

Of course Mac has to screw it up by not allowing you to shut down the application with one click – which I'll never understand. That's the opposite of efficient.

Meaning that RonB has never encountered "Command-Q" on the MacOS keyboard, or that its one-click mouse equivalent is the last entry at the bottom of the first menu ("file"):
click down on 'file' menu, drag down to last menu entry (labelled 'Quit [App]'), release.

Its only been that way in the Macintosh OS's UI since ... oh, January 24, 1984 (~39.9 years).

I'm not even going to count on my work Windows box. Multiple Brave
instances with multiple tabs. Sometimes I do a little pruning.

When I'm working from home I VPN in and often have three remote desktops

No, I don't recall .. but it sounds like it was crap, so its for a good reason to not remember.

    https://youtu.be/YKEcz_OTTBk?t=119

It wasn't a "Linux idea". The Video Toaster in the 80s - and probably
TV graphics before that - would let you put videos on all sides of a
    rotating cube.

Similar to this but the window would burn to a pile of ashes that sat at
the bottom of the screen for a couple seconds, then fade and disappear

    https://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2021/12/enable-compiz-fire-effect-on-window-

And that was every time you closed an app window.

Hey, I only have 37 tabs open in Brave on this box. Then there's the

That seems to be more common than is limiting the number of tabs open. I
guess that might be why many people need more powerful computers than what I use.

Use Vivaldi then, it closes tabs that are not visited, and

It still works on Linux and has gotten fancier over the years. No fancy compositor needed.

None of the computers I use is particularly powerful. With Windows 11 the
chief problem I have is RAM. It only (!) has 16 GB, and immediately after
a reboot about 11 GB is in use. Usually I have to reboot before it runs
out completely so I haven't bothered to make a case to IT for another
stick. If it were mine I'd take it to 32 and be done with it.

My Wondows 11 laptop has 16 GB too but I don't have as much junk running
on it. The Linux mini has almost the same configuration but is a lot
easier on RAM. Looking at top the worst offender was java. ar 24%, and
that was the Arduino IDE. I've got to set up Platform.io in VS Code. It
    can't be any worse.
