XPost: comp.os.linux.misc
Hello, all. While there appear to be plenty of online repair references
to subject (I think I've tried them all including reinstalls) I thought
perhaps on the ng there would be some fresh ideas. I've been a loyal
user of Fedora/Gnome for quite a number of years now and have never
experienced a lack of capability to generate new thumbnails (via
Nautilus) until now. Some details:
1. Fedora 27, Gnome 3.26.2, Nautilus 3.26.3.1
2. Current install will display older thumbnails (from jpg, pdf, etc
files) but won't generate new thumbnails. Any new attempts by Nautilus
to generate thumbnails result in .png (small file sizes non-viewable by
an image viewer) file entries in ~/.cache/thumbnails/fail/gnome-thumbnail-factory.
3. The traditional fix was to simply delete stale/failed entries in gnome-thumbnail-factory and Nautilus would auto generate new ones. This doesn't work with the installed software mentioned above.
I would most welcome if anyone can suggest a solution(s). Thanks for
your time and comment. Sincerely,
