How to Use Plugin Spline Land to Create Realistic Terrains in 3ds Max
Plugin Spline Land is a powerful tool for creating topographically accurate terrains from a set of splines in 3ds Max. It allows you to quickly and easily generate terrains from contour lines, roads, rivers, and other shapes. You can also control the
level of detail, assign IDs, and adjust the grid density of the terrain. In this tutorial, we will show you how to use Plugin Spline Land to create a realistic terrain for your 3d scene.

Step 1: Install Plugin Spline Land
To use Plugin Spline Land, you need to install it in your 3ds Max. You can download it from here and follow the instructions to activate it. You can choose between node-locked and floating/server licenses, depending on your needs. Once installed, you can
find Plugin Spline Land under the Create panel > Geometry > iCube R&D Group.

Step 2: Create Splines for the Terrain
The first step to create a terrain with Plugin Spline Land is to create splines that represent the topographic features of the terrain. You can use any type of splines, including open splines, and draw them manually or import them from other sources. For
example, you can use Google Earth or other GIS software to export contour lines or roads as splines. In this tutorial, we will use some simple splines that we created in 3ds Max.

To create a spline, go to Create panel > Shapes > Line and draw a shape in the top viewport. You can adjust the vertex type and interpolation settings as you like. Repeat this process to create more splines for the terrain. You can also use modifiers
like Edit Spline or Spline IK to edit the splines.

Step 3: Generate Terrain with Plugin Spline Land
Once you have created the splines for the terrain, you can use Plugin Spline Land to generate the terrain mesh. To do this, go to Create panel > Geometry > iCube R&D Group and click on SplineLand. Then, in the Modify panel, click on Add Splines button
and select all the splines that you want to use for the terrain. You will see a preview of the terrain in the viewport.

You can adjust various parameters of the terrain in the Modify panel, such as:

Grid Density: This controls how many polygons are used to create the terrain mesh. Higher values result in more detail but also more polygons.
Splines ID: This allows you to assign different IDs to different splines, which can be useful for applying different materials or modifiers to different parts of the terrain.
Height Offset: This allows you to raise or lower the height of the terrain relative to the splines.
Smoothness: This controls how smooth or sharp the transitions between different splines are.
Interpolation: This controls how the splines are interpolated between each other.

You can also use tools like Add Area, Add Road, Cut Area, and Bedding Course to create and modify specific features of the terrain, such as flat areas, roads, ground cuts, and bedding courses. To use these tools, click on their buttons in the Modify
panel and then select or draw splines in the viewport.

Step 4: Apply Materials and Render
After you have generated the terrain with Plugin Spline Land, you can apply materials and render it as you normally would in 3ds Max. You can use any material that you like, such as standard materials or V-Ray materials. You can also use maps or
procedural textures to add more detail and variation to the terrain surface. For example, you can use a gradient map or a noise map to create elevation or slope-based materials.

To apply a material to the terrain, open the Material Editor and create or select a material. Then drag and drop it onto the terrain object in the viewport. You can also use multi/sub-object materials or UVW mapping to apply different materials to
different parts of the terrain based on their IDs.

To render the terrain, set up your camera, lights, and render settings as you normally
