interface is SOOOO much worse than Facebook's, and I wouldn't have
thought that was possible.  I could forgive almost anything if their
threading actually worked and if the 'notifications' made the noted post
obvious when you click the notification.

The worst part is realizing how dumb people are.  Apparently you don't
have to figure out ANYTHING to join, which says a lot.

So reporting someone is an instant ban? That's ridiculous.

Everybody is supposed to be "nice". If you say something rude or
disparaging or just negative that offends someone who wants to complain,
it's up to the moderator what happens next. The nature of the rude
comment -- or its truth -- is kind of irrelevant, the important thing is
the niceness and the moderator's feelings.

Using an un-PC word is problematical. I posted something using the
phrase "whatever the politically-correct word for 'retarded' is now..."
and had my post deleted. I complained on the grounds that 'retarded' (delayed) was less denigrating than 'mentally-challenged' and the mod
said (s)he would think about it. Nothing so far, and that was over a
    week ago.

I continue because it's the only source, albeit minimal, of genuinely
local news, but it's a pretty damn good outrage stimulus for when I'm
feeling just way too placid :-)

Some people have told me they don't think a fat penguin really
embodies the grace of Linux, which just tells me they have never seen
an angry penguin charging at them in excess of 100mph. They'd be a
lot more careful about what they say if they had. -- Linus Torvalds
