I get confirmation emails from various sources informing me that things
have happened (e.g. an automated backup or activation of a piece of
equipment). I don't care that the thing happened. I care when it doesn't happen.
Before I code my own, is there an off-the-shelf application that can
monitor an email address and alert me when an expected email DOESN'T
arrive? (e.g. "no confirmation of backup seen in the last 24 hours".)
