I've used this software before it was called Claws. I think it is a
fork of Sylpheed. Pretty nice client. I liked to write on it. It'd
break lines before sending the message, while I was typing, so I knew
exactly how the lines would be sent. Silly to say I liked that because
you'd think any e-mail client would do the same, but actually very few
ever did.
Best client for composing messages, though, is Gnus for obvious reasons.
Gnus isn't very nice to receiving attachments, though. What Gmail does
--- displaying a little thumbnail of the picture or quickly giving you a
peek of the PDF --- is nice in that regard. (Besides storing your mail
away from you, though that is a privacy nightmare for sure.)
