• I made a mess: how many Microsoft Visual C++ necessito?

From ijones@jejejeje.it@21:1/5 to All on Tue Aug 3 19:38:37 2021
Hi, I use Windows 10 and Eudora 7.1.
    Eudora was working very well.
But I used CCleaner software to delete some files and Regedit Keys.
When I open Eudora, now it doesn't workl anymore.
It is not able to download messages, for the server problem.
Therefore I used HermSSL I put the 3 DLL files in the Eudora folder,
I did it in past time. Then I wanted.install vcredist.exe file, but I
got problems. In fact it showed a writing telling me I had to unistall Microsoft Visual C++ 15 and install it again. But I have the same
    problem.
I notice many Microsoft Visual C++ in my computer, even 9-10 years
old. Maybe do I have to unistall all them and install them again?
    But which of them precisely?
    I thank you!

If you run the installer for the runtime that comes with the Hermes files, it will show an error message if it's already installed.
If that's the case you can ignore it, as it's already on your system.
It's Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable (x86) - version 14.0.24123. Check your installed programs list to make sure it's listed.
You say you moved the Hermes DLL files into the Eudora folder, did you also move the certificates update file rootcerts.p7b?

Special friend, thanks to you I have now solved. In fact I had
forgotten to insert the rootcerts.p7b file.
    Thank you again.

Good to hear, glad you got it sorted out and it was something so easy to fix!

    Dear Dave,
I noticed I solved all my problems except one.
I have also a ".hotmal.com" account and I always have the same
    Certificate problem with it.
If I put it into trusted Certificates manually, then I can download
the emails. But I have to do it every time.
The strange thing is it works fine with another computer (laptop).
In your opinion what could be the problem?
    I thank you!

I presume that is supposed to be "hotmail", not "hotmal" <G>

Have you installed the updated TLS library and certificates file on that version of Eudora? (HermSSL -- https://sourceforge.net/projects/hermesmail/files/ )

Google used to change certificates almost every other week, and with the
old library and certificates, would always result in "skulls" in the certificate chain.

Sorry for the delayed reply, but did you import the certificate as well as trusting it.
IIRC you need to do both.
