• implicit tls over port 465

    From Andreas S. Kerber@21:1/5 to All on Wed Mar 31 14:51:30 2021
    I was surprised to find out today, that using port 465 is no longer
    deprecated, but is now actually even being encouraged/recommended
    since 2018 (RFC 8314).

    That seems to explain why Thunderbird is using implicit tls over
    port 465 as default. Since that is often causing support issues,
    I was thinking about enabling port 465 and telling sendmail to
    use implicit tls as a DaemonOptions flag. I couldn't find such
    a flag though. Should there be a way to enable implicit tls in sendmail?

    DaemonPortOptions=options
    ...
    Modifier Options (flags) for the daemon
    ...
    Modifier can be a sequence (without any
    delimiters) of the following characters:

    ...
    s Run smtps (SMTP over SSL) instead of smtp

    Thanks Claus! Works like a charm :-)
    Just found it in op.me/op.ps. Sorry about that.
