  • In memoriam: Hans van Nieuwenhuijzen

    Hans van Nieuwenhuijzen has passed away the beginning of July
    at the age of 86 years.
    He was instrumental to promoting Forth in the Netherlands and a
    personal friend of Chuck Moore.
    He worked in astronomy at the university in Utrecht and
    under his guidance fysforth was developed, widely used to
    control instruments, at the time using Apple II.
    Later fysforth was ported to the IBM pc and commercially used.
    For years he full filled the role of chairman of FIG Chapter Holland.
    He will be missed.

    I did not know Hans personally, but it's always sad to hear that one of
    our small community has departed.
