If I want to access the figtaiwan site, in order to practice
my chinese and my translation wand, I arrive there via
    sites.google.com
    For example
    https://sites.google.com/site/figtaiwanfigtaiwan/\ 4-%E5%87%BA%E7%89%88%E5%88%8A%E7%89%A9

Why is that? Can I have direct access to the website, without google
    recording all my mouse clicks?

You must not say "hey" before you have crossed the bridge. Don't sell the
hide of the bear until you shot it. Better one bird in the hand than ten in
the air. First gain is a cat purring. - the Wise from Antrim -

It looks google sites is their hosting provider....

What has changed? The link on www.forth.org no longer works in Firefox.

The link to the former UK site succeeds by going to the wayback machine.
