    Job Description

    <>Position Summary

    Experienced in at least one general-purpose programming language (i.e., #Python, #R, #SQL, #Java, #Tableau, #Scala, #Power BI, or others) to build tools that deliver insights while helping to contribute to the department’s data management
    infrastructure and statistical series’ refinement. Designated accreditation coordinator for the Commission of Fire Accreditation International (CFAI) and the Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services (CAAS). Solves problems associated with
    database access and integration to provide clean, usable data. Conducts data mining and retrieval; making use of programming, mathematics or statistical analysis to identify emergency response trends to help Fire Department staff establish inferences,
    correlations and point to causal relationships where they exist. Writes optimized code to enhance the department’s analytical toolbox. Learns new data

    modeling techniques and software to bring cutting-edge technology to the department. Interacts with all Fire Department employees and partner-agencies in a professional manner to understand their challenges; incorporates their feedback to provide staff
    with quality solutions to address challenges. Serves on various City or regional committees, and work groups dealing with specific organizational, local, regional, or state fire-EMS issues. Performs related work as required.
    <>Qualifications
    Possession of a bachelor's degree or higher in Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, Data Engineering, Information Science, Operations Research, Statistics, or a related discipline. A minimum of three years of experience developing,
    identifying, collecting, processing, and analyzing large data sets is highly desired; Experience working with one or more database structures; demonstrated experience in data mining, analyzing and visualization, preparing and updating reports, charts,
    graphics and presentations; and devising steps to modify processes and resolve problems through the use of automated systems and software. Must have computer or software expertise with a focus in fire-rescue and proven ability to communicate technically
    complex methods and solutions to non-technical audiences verbally or in writing. Proficiency shall be demonstrated in applied programming and/or manipulation of data with a programing language such as #Python, #R, #SQL, #Java, #Tableau, #Scala, #Power BI,
    or others. Possess a valid Florida driver’s license. Knowledge of principles and practices of a fire department operation. Ability to demonstrate proficiency in at least one programming language. Ability to conduct research and define results. Ability
    to perform mathematical calculations. Ability to work independently. Ability to organize and execute assignments with minimum supervision. Ability to communicate orally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
    Ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle or feel objects and controls. Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment. No significant standing, walking, moving, climbing, carrying, bending, kneeling, crawling,
    reaching, and handling, sitting, and pulling. A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
