    25 Years ago [1998-12-08], today [2023-12-08]:

    J2SE 1.2 was released.

It had a JIT translator, "reflection" and "Collections".
"Swing" became part of the standard, and there was a plug in.
Instead of "1.2", now, "2" also was used.

I've never known 1.2 -- came along just before 1.4. Which was Java 2,
    but also 1.4. :-)

    What an incredible ride!

Years ago I bought a Java book with a 1.02? disk in the back. That was
in the early 90s sometime. Bought it in a bookstore in New Jersey on
Route 4 someplace. It was a long time ago.
