• Final SRFI 186: Transcoders and transcoded ports

    From Arthur A. Gleckler@21:1/5 to All on Tue May 12 15:30:53 2020
    Scheme Request for Implementation 186,
    "Transcoders and transcoded ports,"
by John Cowan, based on original work by the R6RS editors,
    has gone into "final" status.

The document and an archive of the discussion are available at <https://srfi.schemers.org/srfi-186/>.

    Here's the abstract:

This is an extract from the R6RS that documents its support for
transcoders and transcoded ports. These provide a hook into the Scheme
port system from below, allowing the creation of textual ports that
provide non-default encoding and decoding from arbitrary binary ports.
It has been lightly edited to fit R7RS style.

Here is the commit summary since the most recent draft:

    - Add "based-on" credit.
    - Editorial changes
    - Add see-also links between 80, 81, and 186.
    - Show keywords.
    - Use HTML links on HTML pages.
    - Fix many HTML errors.
    - Finalize SRFI 186.

Many thanks to John, to the R6RS editors, and to everyone who contributed to the discussion of
    this SRFI.

    Regards,

    SRFI Editor
