A bit late, but I learning GNU Smalltalk too.

It may look like an heresy, but I prefer to use a text editor
instead of a Smalltalk IDE. GTK and SDL bindings look
    interesting for RAD.

It's a pity the GNU Smalltalk team didn't release the new version.
The 3.2.91 version fixed most bugs making gst-browser crash
    and others like math bugs.
Most distros are stuck with gst 3.2.5, which is utterly broken.

Thanks for replying! Bit late here also. :)
How do you know about v3.2.91? Can it be gotten even though it
    hasn't been officially released?

My biggest hurdle in learning GST, is finding a comprehensive
tutorial that makes sense to me.

Just wanted to say "hello", I can't realy help, but I'm also trying to
learn Smalltalk. I actually gravitated towards Pharo, it looks like the
most maintained and performant implementation, but if I understand
correctly GNU Smalltalk is good for writting scripts.

    Hello!

You can use Squeak, Pharo and Cuis headless. Maybe this will fit in your
    script use case.

It will be so good to see the new activity here. Let's talk!
